Jada & Chris had luck on their side when they woke to the most perfect weather for their early Spring wedding at THE WILLIAM AIKEN HOUSE in Charleston. The greenery through the venues gardens were the springboard for the wedding style, which was filled with fresh green and white florals and accented with touches of gold. Captured by Charleston Wedding photographer KAILEE DIMEGLIO the day was a timeless and elegant celebration.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS LOCATION? Charleston is a special place that Chris and I have visited and vacationed together many times. We knew our friends and families would be traveling from out of town regardless of where we got married, so we figured a fun, beautiful town to explore that also had special meaning to us was an overall perfect fit.

HOW DID YOU MEET? Chris and I were introduced by a mutual friend, Kat, who actually officiated our wedding! Kat and Chris were friends in college at Auburn, and she and I go way back to hometown friends from high school. Kat was visiting me in Charlotte one weekend during the early COVID shut down, and when she said her friend Chris was going to be in town and that I HAD to meet him, I couldn’t say no. Safe to say that our girl Kat knows both of us better than we know ourselves. We hit it off from the start!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: We traveled to Italy together in the fall of 2022, starting our trip in Florence. Neither of us had ever been to Italy and had an exciting week planned. After our first morning breakfast in Florence, we went back to the room to prepare for the day, and Chris got down on one knee! We had the most magical week celebrating and eating our way through the country. It was truly a trip of a lifetime.

TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS/ATTIRE: I had been to a few boutiques with my mom and sister while they were visiting in Charlotte since they both live out of town. We had so much fun shopping, but never found “the one.” After they left, I searched online for what I thought I was looking for, and later found Anne Barge designer and immediately was drawn to her gorgeous and classy designs. I found a local Charlotte carrier and scheduled an appointment. I knew the Day Flower dress was the only one I wanted to try on, so the sweet stylist at the store Facetimed my mom for me so she could still get the full experience (even though she wasn’t there in person). As soon as the dress was on, we all knew it was the one. I made a few tweaks to the design to make it my own, but it was perfect from the start.

DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY ELEMENTS? Our wedding cake was a plain white cake, and one of our amazing bridesmaids decorated it with florals! She is the sweetest friend – a Urologist by day – and amateur baker/cake decorator by night. She’s truly the best! It was so special to have her play such a big role in our cake.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: We wanted to go with more traditional florals using whites and greens, as the venue had a beautiful garden and yellow house that we could really play into. The ceremony site was under a gorgeous pergola that we were able to elevate with an incredible floral spray. The florals truly exceeded all of our expectations – Festoon did an amazing job!

FAVOURITE DETAIL OF THE DAY: Oh my goodness – too many! Every part of our day felt so personalized, and that was thanks to our incredible team of vendors. We loved dancing the night away under our clear tent on the black and white dance floor, propping up our feet at the comfortable lounge seating and catching up with friends, and enjoying our favorite foods and drinks. It was so fun to see our vision come to life from the tiny details like napkins and match books, to the big scale items like florals- it was truly the best.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OUT TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Our wedding was hands down our favorite day ever! It was so special to share such a big moment with so many people we love. We think finding a photographer who can not only capture those moments, but also how you feel throughout the day, is so important so that you can relive the day over and over again. We are so grateful for our photos that will forever take us right back to those special moments!

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? Our ceremony was so special and personalized as it was officiated by our best friend, Kat, who also was the person who introduced us. Her words meant so much to us, and sharing such an intimate unity with our friends and family is forever in our hearts. It’s easy to get lost in the details of the planning and day, but the ceremony, and those promises and vows, are what it’s all about.

WHAT ASPECT OF THE WEDDING WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU BOTH? We wanted everyone to have a blast! We love good food and dancing, so those were our priorities, and we feel that our vendors truly nailed it! Our band was so fun and energetic, and the food was incredible. Safe to say everyone left with full stomachs and sore feet from dancing- which was exactly what we wanted.

ANY OTHER DETAILS THAT HELP TELL THE STORY OF YOUR DAY? There were a few unique pieces involved in the details of the day. I had a pearl bracelet that was made from pearls from my mom’s wedding dress. Chris had his tuxedo embroidered with our wedding date on the inside. Another special detail was even though my dad passed away about 5 years ago, I was able to still have him with me with a locket around my bouquet that carried his ashes. It was very special to have my grandfather walk me down the aisle in his place.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR HONEYMOON: A few days after the wedding we traveled to St. Lucia for the most magical and relaxing week at the beach! We hiked the Pitons, snorkeled, got pampered at the spa, lounged in the sun, and saw so many dolphins. It was the perfect oasis to begin our life as newlyweds.

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD CHANGE OR DO DIFFERENTLY? Not a thing. We only wish we got to do this every year!
