Wai & Evan met in Hong Kong in a salsa dancing bar. Wai tells us, "Evan cannot actually dance salsa but he was there with a group of friends and I was there with a group of Latin American friends to dance. He moved to Melbourne from Hong Kong to be with me in November 2018. We have travelled to a lot of countries together (maybe 15) and hiked all over. I think we just love spending time together – we make each other laugh a lot. We tease each other. We annoy each other. We like going on adventures and we make our relationship fun." SYLVAIN BOUZAT captured their beautiful celebration at the stunning OBEROI RESORT on Lombok Island which was the very same spot Evan had proposed to Wai a year earlier.

We have many beautiful memories of the day; walking down the aisle, reading our vows, hearing the heartfelt speeches from our friends and family and then – of course- the very lively dance floor! We highly recommend having a destination wedding – everyone was so happy and excited and relaxed because they were also on holiday. We have the best memories from after the wedding staying at the resort with our friends and family and spending time together eating wedding cake in the pool whilst watching the sunset and drinking cocktails.

We chose SYLVAIN as our photographer for our destination wedding because he was so genuine and so easy to connect with! He made everyone feel so at ease so that the photos came out very naturally. We wanted candid photos rather than posed photos and Sylvain was perfect at capturing this. We absolutely loved seeing our photos – it was wonderful to relive the day again and to see and feel the emotions captured in the pictures.

The colours used to throughout the wedding were taken from nature; green like the vegetation, golden like the sand and the sunset. The flowers added a touch of orange, red and rose to liven things up. The spirit of the wedding was turned towards the natural elements in a magnificent five-star resort by the sea in Bali. The decor was simple but very meticulous, with colourful local flowers and special attention paid to all the little details. The ceremony took place on the beach at sunset under a large tree.

The bridesmaids were perfectly matched in beautiful flowing, form-fitting peach-pink dresses from BHLDN. The groomsmen were dressed in a classic grey-blue suit with a touch of colour in the buttonhole. As for the food, there were various stalls offering dishes from all over South East Asia. Traditional Chinese dishes, local Indonesian dishes, fragrant rice accompanied by tasty dishes with subtle smells.  Japanese gyosas and ravioli, Vietnamese-style beouf salad, pork stir-fried in sweet and sour sauce, classic cantonese rice, a memorable pad Thai, ramen, and chicken stir-fried with vegetables and mushrooms in a wok.

At the bride's request, the flowers were chosen locally. It was very important for her to keep the spirit of the place where she got her proposal. The flowers were chosen to bring the right touch of colour and sparkle between pink, red and orange, without forgetting the green palms typical of Indonesian beaches.

The wedding cake which was served on a palm leaf was simple and elegant, all white with a pretty glassy effect. Gorgeous pink and orange flowers added a touch of Indonesian flair to the floral decoration.
